With a $75 drum kit purchased by his mom in 1977, and no prior music lessons, Dave went from majoring in Biology to being the very first student to procure a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Percussion from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1988.

The recordings are cavernous & pretty horrendous, and the mostly-memorized performances are generously imperfect, but these recitals are a decent example of what studying music for four years will do (without any prior ‘formal lessons’ or training).
